Thanksgiving in All circumstances
1 Thessalonians 5:18
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you".
Thanksgiving as a Sacrifice
And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!
Psalm 116:17
"I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord".
Abounding & Steadfast Thanksgiving
Colossians 2:7
"Rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving
“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with Thanksgiving.”
Yesterday I was thinking about times I find myself discontent, dissatisfied, coveting, etc. I've found that when these thoughts start to arise in my mind and are in my heart...that the one thing that is sure to change that, is to be THANKFUL!
Now, we might say...
- How can you be thankful when things aren't going your way?
- How can you be thankful when you have conflict with loved ones?
- How can you be thankful when finances are a problem?
- How can you be thankful when your health is frail?
- How can you be thankful when .............................. ?
So all this to say, that today if you find yourself, as I do from time to time, discontent or frazzled by the day to day frustrations that come with life...that in that time, let us think about the something we can be thankful for. Then, after that initial shift to thanksgiving...the Lord will do something really neat in our hearts and help us to recall so many wonderful ways He has blessed us and then we will realize that TRULY WE ARE BLESSED and that we have SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR!
The Lord desires thankful hearts...so if we find it hard, let us give Him that sacrifice of praise!
The truth is, He isn't the one that needs it, we do! That is why He asks us to be thankful, for our own sake! He is SO GOOD! Thank YOU LORD!
"Give thanks to the Lord, Our God and King..His Love endures forever"....
